If I Could Only Sleep

I feel the rot that's moving in

Covering my blood in sin

Poisoned water through my veins

Pulsing through these wretched stains 

I am so heavy with despair

Drowning in this guilty air

Demons crawl into my mind

Burning down the doors I find

As I fall into the dirt

Reaching upwards from the earth

Screaming for a hand to hold

I descend into the cold

Please save me before I die

Please heed this, my aching cry

I have crawled and wept thus far

Soundless, as the death of stars 

I want so badly to be clean

To see angels in my dreams

Waking to a dawn of light

Giving purpose to my sight 

Perhaps if I could only sleep 

And be swallowed by the deep

I could feel you reach for me 

And finally I would be free
