The Garden

The Garden (2003)

Mary, Mary, how does your garden grow?
She looked at me, with tears in her eyes, and said
"My garden died a long time ago."

"It died on a rainy day, because I let go,
Little did I remember that rain turns to snow.
Frostbitten butterflies, crying in pain
My heart couldn't hear them, for I was the same."

"I gave all that I had, to a passing parade,
And watched as it walked away
With all I had saved."

I saw as it rounded that faraway bend,
Then fell back to wait for
My heart to mend."

Mary, Mary, how will your garden grow?
She looked at me, with tears in her eyes, and said
"My garden died but I maybe will survive."
